Waverly Ukes: Practices are on the first and third Thursdays at 6:00 PM. New members are always welcome!
Waverly Book Group: Next gathering: Monday, July 7 at 6:30 pm, hosted by the Millars. The July title is James by Percival Everett. Join us for lively conversation, even if you haven’t read the book! Bring suggested titles, as we’ll be creating a new book list on July 7.
Portland Pride Waterfront Festival: On Saturday, July 19 from noon until 8:00 pm and Sunday, July 20 from 11:30 until 6:00 pm Portland’s waterfront will be the place to be for food, crafts, performances, information, and fun. No one will be turned away, but the suggested donation is $10 or $12 for a two-day pass. Click here for more information.
Pride Parade Sunday Worship at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral:The Episcopal Diocese of Oregon, the Lutheran Oregon Synod, and the Central Pacific Conference of the United Church of Christ, of which Waverly is a part, will join together on Sunday, July 20 to worship and to march in Portland’s Pride Parade. We’ll gather in the cathedral’s courtyard between 9:00 and 9:45 am for a brief blessing. The cathedral is located at NW Everett, 147 NW 19th Avenue. Everyone is then invited to the 10:00 am service at the cathedral or to linger over snacks and beverages in Kempton Hall. Afterwards we’ll walk together to our assigned parade assembly point (#95) in the North Park Blocks. The parade steps off at 11:00 am. Click here for more information. Parking will be very limited. The Trinity Episcopal Cathedral is accessible by MAX (Providence Park station) and Tri-Met bus numbers 15, 20, 24 and 77. Taking the NS Line streetcar to NW Lovejoy and 18th is also an option.
BBQ & BINGO! Wednesday, July 23. Please join us for old-fashioned BINGO and a BBQ dinner! Waverly will be providing hot dogs (vegan option), chips, watermelon, and drinks. Bring a SIDE DISH if you wish. White Elephant Prizes and Tony’s Chocolate Bars. Begins at 5:30, dinner at 6:00. Weather permitting, we’ll be on the lawn!
